Lokahi Tree


We have 40 more Lokahi ornaments on our Christmas tree.  We would like to fulfill all Lokahi requests.  Come to the front office to check out our Lokahi Christmas tree and select an individual request and donate an unwrapped item.

KES Curbside Recycling Drive

Don't forget we will be conducting a curbside recycling drive beginning December 8 through December 10.  KIC members will be at the drop-off and pick-up area to collect HI 5 plastic/glass bottles (non-alcoholic) and aluminum cans.  If you are unable to drop off items during the scheduled time you can drop off items in our blue bins that are labeled.

Great American Can Round Up

Help us recycle and win money for the school.  Keone'ula has entered the Great American Can Round Up.  We are being challenged to see how aluminum cans we can recycle between now and Earth Day in April 22, 2011.  KIC will be spearheading this challenge.  Stay tuned for more information.

Haseko Christmas Card Winner

Parent/'Teacher Conferences

Don't Forget - On December 1, the "Notification of Parent/Teacher Conference" forms will go home with the youngest and only child.  The form will be due on December 9.  Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for January 26, 27 and 28.  Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. on January 26.  There is no school for students on January 27 & 28.

Congratulations to the following Grade Levels for meeting the 1st quarter reading campaign goal of 85%.

FSC (1 classroom) -             88%
Pre-School (2 classrooms) - 100%
Kindergarten (7 classrooms)- 86%
Grade 2 ( 6 classrooms) -  91%

(Percentage shown reflects  the average of all classrooms on the grade level.)

The 2nd quarter goal is 89%.

Make a Difference

Our Kids Initiating Change (KIC) will be conducting a Make a Difference Day from October 18-October 22.  The KIC group will be collecting items for the Ronald McDonald House of Charities.  Please see the attached for more information:

Canned Food Drive

Don't forget our Canned Food Drive will be held from October 18-October 22.  This canned food drive will help the Hawaii Food Bank.  Canned goods may be dropped off in the labeled boxes located in the front office.  See attached for more information.

Running Club

The Keone'ula Running Club is open to all students in grades K-6.  The club will focus on proper running technique, nutrition, hydration and safety.  The Road Runners Club of American Kids Run the Nation curriculum will be used for the program.  Each session will be 8 weeks long.  The Running Club is $30 per year (Jan. 1-Dec. 31).  There will be an informational meeting on November 4 at 2:15 p.m. in the library.  See attached for more information.
